“One More Thing,” Michael Parent’s new one-man show, premiered at Pontine Theater in Portsmouth, N.H. in March 2004. The play is based on, and reprises, one of the characters from “A Frog Stuck in the Ice,” a three-person play performed in Lewiston, Maine, for L.A. Arts in January 2001.
In “One More Thing,” Jean-Paul Boisvert, a retired Franco-American mill worker, on his 67th birthday, regales the audience with stories, especially about his beloved, deceased but still influential wife Marie-Louise.
He tunes into and berates “his teams,” the Bruins and Red Sox, takes phone calls from his grownup children and other family members, and haltingly moves toward resolving a major loose end in his life.

"Touching,
spirited, deeply human and funny throughout, Michael Parent's 'One More Thing'
is an experience that will live with me for a long time. Our audiences were
absolutely spellbound. What an extraordinary night of theatre!"

"Whether
you're Franco-American or not, you'll come away from "One More Thing"
with a real sense of the immigrant experience in this country. Michael Parent is
a dynamic performer who single-handedly brings to life the spirit of an entire
family." "The
vividness of this character (Jean-Paul Boisvert) in "One More Thing"
stunned me. Seeing him fully embodied on the stage at the Pontine was a
startling experience -- like having a person walk out of a portrait on the wall
and start to speak, feel, be."

-- Jo Radner, storyteller, scholar, past president of American Folklore Society
“We
are drawn irresistibly and intimately into the living room of this colorful,
cranky storyteller and Red Sox fan.”
--
Kristin Langellier, University of Maine faculty, author of “Storytelling
in Daily Life”
“It
was very evident that Michael was connecting ... across generational and
language distances. Michael's work is important to the transmission
of Franco-Americans’ rich cultural heritage and experiences.”
